Date Calculator frequently asked questions
Inclusive counts, leap years, which calendar workdays follow, and time zones — the four things people get stuck on, answered in one place.
Are the days between dates inclusive?
The main number in Days Between mode is the gap between two dates (the start day is not counted). The "N days inclusive" line beneath counts both the start and end day. For example, Feb 4 to Feb 5 is 1 day apart, or 2 days inclusive. Use whichever number matches what you mean by "interval" versus "days occupied".
Are year boundaries and leap years handled correctly?
Yes. The calculation uses actual calendar days, so crossing into a new year and the Feb 29 of a leap year are both counted correctly without any adjustment from you.
Which calendar do workdays follow?
Workdays mode excludes Saturdays and Sundays of each week. For how public holidays and make-up workdays are handled, see the page on how workdays are counted.
Do time zones affect the result?
The calculation only looks at the dates you pick and subtracts calendar days, with no time-of-day or time-zone conversion, so the same pair of dates gives the same result wherever you calculate it.
