Natal chart FAQ

An uncertain birth time, why birthplace matters, how accurate the calculation is, and how your data is handled — the questions people ask most when looking up a chart, gathered here.

What if I don't know my exact birth time? What does it affect?

The rising sign and houses are quite sensitive to birth time. If you're unsure, start with 12:00 as an estimate — the signs of the ten planets are usually still correct, but treat the rising sign and houses as approximate. Confirm the exact time with family or a birth certificate, then recalculate.

Why does birthplace matter?

Your birthplace supplies the time zone and the latitude and longitude. The time zone affects how planets and signs are converted, while latitude and longitude affect the rising sign and house calculation, so entering the correct birth city (or manual coordinates) is what produces an accurate chart.

Is the calculation accurate? What is it based on?

The tool uses standard astronomical algorithms to compute planetary positions and the Placidus house system (switching to equal houses automatically at high latitudes), so the signs and houses match established astrology software. If you were born during daylight saving time, we suggest adjusting the time zone yourself in manual mode.

Is my birth data stored?

Your most recent entry is only kept in your browser (localStorage) so you can recalculate on a return visit. You can clear it at any time, and it is not uploaded.
