Cookie Policy

Last updated: May 28, 2026 | Effective date: May 28, 2026

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you browse. Cookies let websites remember your settings, improve your experience, and support analytics and ad delivery. In addition to traditional Cookies, the Site also uses browser localStorage and sessionStorage. This policy covers all of them.

2. How We Categorize Cookies

The Site organizes Cookies into the following three tiers, which you can configure via the Cookie consent banner:

  • Necessary Cookies: required for the Site to function, cannot be disabled
  • Analytics Cookies: help us understand how visitors use the Site, you can opt in or out
  • Advertising Cookies: used by Google AdSense to deliver ads, you can opt in or out

The tables below list all Cookies and local storage items currently used on the Site, organized by category.

3. Necessary Cookies and Local Storage

The following items are required for basic site functionality and cannot be disabled via the Cookie consent banner. You may clear them through your browser settings, but doing so may affect site usability.

Name Type Provider Purpose Retention
ff_consent_analytics localStorage Fire-Frame Records your consent state for "analytics Cookies" Persistent (until you clear browser data)
ff_consent_advertising localStorage Fire-Frame Records your consent state for "advertising Cookies" Persistent (until you clear browser data)
ff_consent_shown localStorage Fire-Frame Marks whether the consent banner has been shown to you to avoid repeated display Persistent
ff_recent_apps localStorage Fire-Frame Stores the list shown in the "Recently Used" section; can be disabled or cleared in Preferences Persistent
ff_locale localStorage Fire-Frame Records your selected language (zh-TW or en) Persistent
ff_theme localStorage Fire-Frame Records your selected visual style (clean, tech, illust) Persistent

Note: The localStorage items above are stored in your browser. They are not uploaded to our servers. The list reflects the active site behavior as observed via browser developer tools; the table will be kept up to date when new items are introduced.

4. Analytics Cookies (Optional)

The Cookies below are set by Google Analytics 4 (GA4), loaded via Google Tag Manager (GTM). They are activated only after you consent to "analytics Cookies"; visitors who do not consent will not load these Cookies at all.

Name Type Provider Purpose Retention
_ga HTTP Cookie Google Generates an anonymized user ID to distinguish visitors 2 years
_ga_<container-id> HTTP Cookie Google Holds session state information 2 years
_gid HTTP Cookie Google Daily identifier to distinguish visitors 24 hours
GTM dataLayer In-memory variable Google Page-level event queue; not written to storage Cleared when page closes

GA4 collected data helps us understand site usage (top pages, bounce rate, average dwell time) so that we can improve the Site. See Google Analytics Privacy Overview for details.

5. Advertising Cookies (Optional)

The Cookies below are set by Google AdSense and its advertising partners when serving ads. The Site operates under Google Consent Mode v2:

  • If you consent to advertising Cookies → personalized ads are shown; AdSense may use browsing behavior and interest data to serve more relevant ads
  • If you do not consent → ads still display but only in a non-personalized form, based on page content and approximate location, without relying on personal tracking

For the complete Google AdSense Cookie inventory, see How Google uses cookies and similar technologies. You can manage personalized ad preferences at Google Ads Settings.

6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

6.1 Via the Site's Consent Banner

When you visit the Site for the first time, a consent banner appears at the bottom of the screen with three options:

  • Accept All: consent to all optional Cookies (analytics + advertising)
  • Reject All: only necessary Cookies are enabled; all optional Cookies are rejected
  • Customize: choose independently whether to consent to analytics Cookies and advertising Cookies

You may reopen the consent banner anytime by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in the page footer to adjust your choices.

6.2 Via Browser Settings

Mainstream browsers provide built-in Cookie and local storage management:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Note: Disabling all Cookies at the browser level may affect the basic functionality of the Site and most other websites.

6.3 Via Third-Party Opt-Out Tools

You can centrally manage cross-site advertising Cookies via:

  • Google Ads Settings (manage Google personalized ads)
  • DAA WebChoices (US Digital Advertising Alliance)
  • Your Online Choices (EU Interactive Advertising Bureau)

7. Withdrawing Consent

Your consent is voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time. You may withdraw by:

  • Reopening the consent banner via "Cookie Settings" in the footer and unchecking the relevant categories
  • Clearing items like ff_consent_analytics or ff_consent_advertising via your browser settings

After withdrawal, the Site will immediately stop loading the corresponding tracking and advertising scripts. Already collected data will not be automatically deleted by withdrawal; you may exercise the erasure right under Section 8 of the Privacy Policy.

8. Policy Changes

When the Site adds or removes Cookies, or changes their categorization, we will update this policy and modify the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we will post a homepage notice or reopen the consent banner to request consent again.
